Methods for purifying water in the pool

What is better to choose: mechanical water purification or chemical water purification in the pool. Recommendations from WaterStore experts

Don’t forget to clean your pool. Even if you only occasionally use it, and the reservoir, it would seem, is protected from debris, it gets dirty over time. First, harmful bacteria multiply in the pond. Secondly, algae and other “unwanted guests” appear in stagnant water.

Fortunately, the modern market provides ample opportunities for water purification in the pool. There are remedies for greens, for turbidity, for algae, for limescale, for fungi, bacteria and viruses. Both mechanical cleaning and chemical cleaning are available to pool owners.

We offer you to get acquainted with modern methods in detail.

Mechanical methods of water purification

Mechanical cleaning is carried out using specialized equipment. You can find this equipment for swimming pools in the range of our store.

Pool filters

A filter is a device that “drives” water through itself, trapping debris. Purified water is returned to the pool.

The most popular type of filter is the sand filter. Its design provides for the presence of a flask filled with fractionated quartz chips. Water purification in the pool is carried out effectively due to the “tenacity” of this crumb: it retains even small debris well.

A more modern version of the filter is cartridge. The cartridge needs to be cleaned periodically by simply rinsing it with water from a hose. After several washes, the element becomes unusable, and it is changed.

Vacuum cleaner for cleaning the pool

Everything is obvious here. The device is similar to a regular vacuum cleaner, only designed for pools. Water purification equipment is equipped with a filter for collecting debris. In fact, the logic of work is the same as in the previous paragraph: the technique sucks in water, retains debris fractions and releases purified water back into the pool.

There are two types of vacuum cleaners: manual and robotic.

Manual models are equipped with rods that you need to hold on to while cleaning. The speed of cleaning the pool depends on the power of the model.

Filtration systems

These water purification products are the next step in the evolution of pool filters. Systems can consist of several filters, have a pump, a pressure gauge, and a contamination indicator in their design. This is an installation that can autonomously purify water for a long time. It can be either installed in the country or purchased in a public sports pool. The main thing is to choose the right model, since the systems are designed for pools of different sizes.

Pumps

The pump is useful from several points of view:

  • it cleans the pool bowl from small debris;
  • it circulates water, protecting it from blooming. If the water is in a static position, it “spoils” relatively quickly;
  • thanks to the operation of the pump, the chemical disinfectants of the water are evenly distributed in the water.

Water purification using chemistry

Chemistry for the pool allows you to maintain the cleanliness of the reservoir without the use of mechanical devices. However, a combination of mechanics and chemistry can be used to achieve the best effect.

Cleaning tablets

The method of using such chemistry is obvious: you throw a chlorine tablet into water, it begins to slowly dissolve, instantly providing a disinfecting effect. Disinfection of water can be carried out using various active substances. The most popular option is chlorine. It destroys all kinds of fungi, bacteria and viruses. Quality chemistry does not critically affect the pH level.
