Pool filtration systems differ in the way they filter the water.
Sand filters for pools
The most simple and unpretentious look. It is also the most popular type.
Water filtration is carried out in a tank filled with either quartz sand or gravel. The filter media must be cleaned by backwashing.
Such pool equipment works efficiently due to the physical ability of sand or gravel to trap large and small debris.
Another significant advantage of sand filters is affordability. Due to the relatively simple design and the absence of expensive parts, the price tags for such equipment are more than acceptable.
Water purification using such equipment is the most effective: elements up to 1 micron in size are removed. The filter medium is diatomaceous earth. It is obtained from the fossilized skeletons of radiolarians and algae. These are elements that accumulate in nature over millions of years.
As mentioned above, such filtration systems take on almost all the responsibilities for purifying water in the pool. Thanks to this, it is possible to use 4-5 times less chemicals. This is both savings and safety, as there are many types of chemistry that affect the skin.
Diatom filters are just the opposite – they have a positive effect on the condition of the skin. The elements that are used during filtration make the water “soft”, neutralize hardness. As a result, swimming in the pool literally turns into a rejuvenating session.
The disadvantage of such equipment is predictable: you have to overpay for the best filters for the pool. Diatom models can cost several times more than sand models.
Filter pumps are used to clean the water in the pool from grass, insects, other small and large debris.
The technique works as follows: water is sucked into the pipes of the system, passes through the filter element and splashes back into the pool. In this case, the debris remains on the filter. The technique can be equipped with a cartridge or a container with quartz sand. Cartridges are made from paper. They last 3-4 weeks, after which they need to be replaced.
Water purification is carried out more efficiently with the help of sand. However, if the pool is small, the cartridges do their job perfectly.
An important point: a filter pump is a great option for a home pool, as it circulates water. It does not stagnate and does not begin to bloom.
Work principles
In fact, all filters have the same principle of operation: water enters the system, debris is filtered out, and purified water suitable for bathing is returned to the reservoir. The difference is only in the filter bed, with which cleaning is carried out.
Installing the filter is also not too difficult.

Even if you try to protect the pool from debris as much as possible, you will not be able to ensure the reference purity of the water. If only because a person leaves hair in the pool when swimming. A dozen such baths – and a negative result in the form of a clogged reservoir is provided.

This will need to be done even more often if the pool is outdoors. In addition, be prepared for the unpleasant smell of water; to the fact that the bottom and walls of the pool will be covered with mucus.
