–The Various Pool and Spa Heating Systems to Consider
Basically, the heating system for your pool or spa is determined by a variety of factors such as budget, needs, desires and physical location of the same. In regard to this, there are four main options of pool or spa heating systems:-
Solar heating system
This is heating obtained directly from the sun and the greatest advantage is that it is completely free. Through direct heat transfer, water from your spa or pool is circulated through the collector often situated on the roof.
Most solar heating systems incorporate a PCB controller that flow water to the roof when there is enough sunshine.
With a solar heating system, the heat collected is dependent on the size of the collector meaning that the larger the collector, the more heat will be gained.
Electric heating element
This is often through an electric heat pump and is a cost effective means of heating your pool or spa since it has a low electrical input as compared to its heat transfer.
Working in the reverse version of an air conditioner, a heat pump collects large volumes of air, removes the heat contained in it and transfers this heat to water from the spa or pool transiting though the unit.
Through the evolution of smart meters, electric heating is becoming more affordable and readily affordable. Heat pumps have no doubt become the lowest operating system for both seasonal and all year round heating.

For pools that are used for entertainment or for open spas, gas heating comes off as the best deal. Its unmatched flexibility from its rapid heating robustness and ability makes it a plus for pool and spa owners.
As compared to solar heating which vary in temperature, a gas heated spa or pool, you are able to maintain the pool or spa’s heating to your preferred temperature.
While gas heating is more expensive than solar heating, it makes sense to incorporate a gas heating system to your solar heating unit to cater for heating effectiveness in poor weather or during the night.
