How to Control Board Replacement for Your Furnace
You know that feeling of feeling in complete control and one step ahead always? Everyone wants to have that right? When it comes to heating your pool or home, it’s hard not to integrate the timely impact a furnace projects. There is nothing like a faulty furnace during cold weather or at that time when a warm swim would automatically bring you utmost relaxation.
There are often two types of furnace control boards. The first is the igniter which controls the gas valve and a flame sensing circuit. The other is one referred to as an integrated furnace control. These two perform close to the same tasks but the integrated furnace control also controls the blower in both heating modes and air conditioning together with providing on board diagnostics.
Replacement or Repair for your furnace control board
It’s completely okay to try to cut down on expenses by opting to repair your furnace control board but while this may appeal for the time being, the long term impact might be much more expensive. This can be in terms of consumption where you might find that your furnace improper functioning is causing loss of heat. So when it makes better sense to replace a defective control board, this is how to go about it:-
First you need to identify the defective control board and find a proper replacement from a trusted contractor or the initial manufacturer.
Here you go….
Ensure that furnace power is off to begin the control board replacement. Mark all cables and note down which connections they belong to before removing them. The control board might be fitted using screws or plastic clips which you should now remove to free your old board.
From this point, you can now attach your new board with screws or by snapping it in with the plastic clips. After this, carefully connect back the wire cables you initially removed according to how you marked them.
When all wires are connected properly, restore the furnace power then run the system over a heating cycle to verify proper functioning.
